Vancouver is a banner city for this website, serving as Hank Loves Neon’s first foray into international territory. It also happens to be the closest destination to home base (150 miles or 230 km depending on which side of the border you’re on). Early visits to this town were an inspiration for what would eventually become this collection of photos.
My exploration of Vancouver today hinted at the rich neon glory of years past. The city once boasted 19,000 noble gas-filled glass tube signs (one for every 18 residents) at one time. My heart beats a little faster just thinking about it what that must have been like to see!
